I had to think long and hard about who I would cover for my inaugural post on this website. After bouncing a bunch of ideas around I knew I had to show someone local some love. I hail from Seattle and thanks to this little indie artist named Macklemore, we have seen somewhat of a hip-hop resurgence. Hundreds of dope artists pop up almost daily it seems. While I was attending a Red Bull showcase a few months back this artist named Dave B was opening for Goldlink. I didn’t expect much, just thinking that it would be like any other local struggle rapper opener on a big show. I was dead wrong. After walking his mother out to sit side stage, Dave B tore the roof off the venue instantly gaining me as a fan. Dave thrives in a post-808s & Heartbreak world, with a style reminiscent of Kanye West and Drake but he takes that sound and makes it all his own. It’s very Seattle and Dave has quickly become one of my favorite independent artists .
Dave’s most recent song “Olive Oil” is a perfect introduction to his style and once it hooks you, go pick up his most recent album Punch Drunk on any streaming service as well as his Soundcloud. “Olive Oil” was produced by Darius & Dave B
I look forward to sharing the music I love with you all through this website and giving the artists that deserve shine more of platform to thrive on. You can find me on Twitter @kyle_d_pedersen and send music submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org
