I was starting to lose hope on this segment recently. I was getting submissions but nothing stood out to me over the last couple of weeks so I decided to dial it back and wait for some good videos to appear. Ask and you shall receive, right?
It was going to be hard to find videos that were creative and about love for a Valentine’s Day edition of “Creative Videos Only” so instead I just want to show love to these awesome videos. Here are my favorites that were in my inbox:
“Alexus” –Vinny Virgo
“Couldn’t afford a car so she named her daughter Alexus” was the first lyric I thought of when I saw this video. Vinny Virgo recounts simpler times of riding in his dad’s Lexus before falling in love with a girl with the same name later in life. I like the theme of reminiscing while trying to relate this to his every day life. Plus the bear has a gun and that’s pretty cool as well even if it has no real meaning to the video.
“Like No Other” –Yung Ro
St. Louis’ Yung Ro looks like a ladies man and this plays into the concept of the video for “Like No Other”. I was sold from the beginning as we see a couple sitting together on a date before the lady recognizes Ro and his crew (they were sitting on the same side of the table which is weird and how I knew things wouldn’t workout for them). From here Ro stunts and by the end of the night this young lady is leaving with him.
“S.O.T.B.” –P.A.T. Junior
While this video is simple there’s an underlying tone that matches the video and I’m all for it. “S.O.T.B.” stands for “Stepping Out The Batcave” and the darkness of P.A.T. in the video throughout helps play into the theme. The darkness is a metaphor that P.A.T. illustrates to be doubt, insecurity, and other negative thoughts we have about ourselves. I like that he’s shining a light on this because it can be a struggle for people to cope with these issues and hard for them to step into the light.
“Jump” –cash hollistah. feat. Lando
Believing in yourself is one of the hardest things you’ll do in life. Many have self-confidence issues and won’t allow themselves to take that leap to the next level. cash hollistah. gives us the motivation we need with Lando as we see three different people going after their dreams in the video for “Jump”. The record is hard hitting and the video gives us that extra boost to go after what you’ve always dreamed of doing. Stop putting your dreams off and go after them right now.
