Meghan Markle : How the royal family influenced his career in the series “Suits”

Before becoming Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was known for her role in the hit series “Suits”. However, when her relationship with Prince Harry became public, the British royal family began to exert their influence over her career.

Series creator Aaron Korsh recently revealed during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the royal family placed some restrictions on Markle’s scripts. Although this was not a major constraint, it still created some difficulties.

Korsh explained that the particular phrase that was problematic was, “My family would say poppycock,” which Markle’s character had to say during a conversation with her crush on the show. The royal family objected to the use of the word, and Korsh had to replace it with “bullshit.”

“They didn’t want to put the word ‘poppycock’ in his mouth,” Korsh said. “So we had to change it to ‘bullshit’. I didn’t like it because I told my in-laws that ‘poppycock’ was going to be in the show. »

Korsh also revealed that he didn’t know how the royal family obtained the scripts for the series, but he assumed it was either through the producer director or through Markle’s agent.

In his memoir, Prince Harry also mentioned the royal family’s control over Markle’s scripts. He wrote that the show’s writers were often frustrated as the palace communications team advised them to change lines of dialogue and Markle’s actions.

Despite restrictions imposed by the royal family, Markle continued to work on “Suits” until the end of the seventh season. Shortly after her final episode aired, she married Prince Harry.

In an interview, Markle commented on her departure from the show, saying, “I don’t see it as giving up on anything. I see this as a change. It’s a new chapter, isn’t it? And also, keep in mind that I worked on ‘Suits’ for seven years. »

Although her career on “Suits” ended, Meghan Markle found a new calling as a member of the British royal family. Her marriage to Prince Harry marked a major turning point in her life, propelling her into the global spotlight.
